Lucky for you, File Explorer lets you do just that. OK, so let’s say that you only want to resize the icons of files and subfolders located within a specific folder. Method VI: the easy way to resize icons within a single folder It’s one of the fastest ways to change the icon size despite the fact that it doesn’t allow you to fine-tune as you would when holding ctrl and using the mouse scroll wheel. Next, the menu will expand and you’ll see options for large, medium, and small icons. Try it right now: right-click on your desktop and, instead, hover over the “view” option. OK, you’ve seen the method through which you right-click on the desktop and then select “Display settings.” But what if I told you that there is an even simpler method than that, even though you might consider it a little less accurate. The choice is yours! Method V: the desktop context menu This means you can enjoy both normal and zoomed in text or photo simultaneously. It opens a new rectangular window at the top of your screen and displays what your mouse hovers over in a bigger size. This will bring up a transparent rectangle which will zoom in only the area inside it. In this mode clicking on the Plus button or the Minus button, the whole screen will get zoomed in or out and you will have to get your mouse to the edge of the screen to be able to move around it.

If you choose a home water birth, there are options for how to get a tub. Gather as much information as you can so there are no surprises when you arrive. A few may have additional rules and practices in place. Others may allow you to go through all stages of labor in the tub. Some hospitals will allow you to labor in the tub but then require you to deliver on the hospital bed. These pregnancies do have a higher risk of premature birth and other issues that may need closer monitoring during labor and delivery.Ĭommunicate your desires to have a water birth with your healthcare provider to discuss your individual risks and birth plan.Ĭonsider touring local hospitals and birthing centers to find out more about their water birthing options. You may or may not be a good candidate for a water birth if you’re carrying twins or higher order multiples. trouble regulating baby’s body temperature. It’s a severe and sometimes fatal disease that causes fever, cough, and pneumonia, among other issues. Legionnaires’ disease, for example, is caused by inhaling (aspirating) droplets of water that contain Legionella bacteria. While rare, babies born in water may acquire infections or other diseases. difficulty tracing fetal heartbeat, or need for continuous tracing. In addition, water birthing may not be recommended if you have any of the following complications or symptoms: Water births may not be recommended for women who are in preterm labor or who have had two or more previous cesarean section deliveries. There are other guidelines, including having a low-risk pregnancy, clear amniotic fluid, and baby in head-down position. Overall, ACOG recommends that laboring in water be offered to women who are between 37 weeks to 41 weeks, 6 days gestation. Giving my daughter a gentle start earthside as I brought her up to my chest from the still water was a moment I will always treasure.” She says “the warmth of the water, the weightlessness, gave me room to escape without disconnecting. delivered her daughter in a stationary, warm-water delivery tub at a birthing center in 2012. Women who birth in water also report higher birth satisfaction. Larger scale studies are needed to confirm these findings. Not only that, but women who have water births reported less stress incontinence 42 days after delivery than those who delivered on land, 6.1 percent versus 25.5 percent, respectively. One small study revealed that women who labor in water may also have a lower cesarean section rate (13.2 percent versus 32.9 percent). Laboring in water may also decrease your need for epidurals or other spinal pain relief. They also do not recommend delivering in water.Īccording to ACOG, immersion in water in the first stage of labor may help shorten the duration of labor. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recognize certain benefits, but they don’t recommend laboring in water beyond the first stage of labor, leading up to when the cervix is fully dilated. Water births have become more popular over the last several decades. When there is a picture in a Profile (wherever it appears) you can pop it out into its own window and view it actual size (which will be bigger than it is being displayed at in the Profile). This one has been around since the Emerald days. They set the drop-list selection to 16:9 and ‘hey presto’ the picture looks right. So for a 16:9 picture stored in a texture you can send it to a friend and, provided they are using Phoenix, tell them in IM “you’ll need to view that at 16:9”. Phoenix adds a useful little drop-list at the bottom of a texture view to let you tell it what Aspect Ratio it should be. With most Viewers you have to stretch the texture till it looks right. For me this is the killer feature as it is just so useful for enabling me to shop in a large store the way I want to.Īs I’ve blogged about before, Second Life stores pictures (textures) in squares, or rectangles made of squares, and unless the Aspect Ratio exactly matches that of the texture it’s going to be distorted. It does this because llMoveToTarget is a script command used to move things around rather than a teleport as such, so isn’t restricted by the Landing Point rules. However, there is an option in Phoenix when using the LSL Client Bridge to use llMoveToTarget for double-click TPs and this zips you straight to where you double-click even if this sim has a Landing Point. Or, worse, you get zapped back to the Landing Point. Most Third Party Viewers allow you to double-click teleport, but often you fall foul of the Landing Point and get an unhelpful message saying you are unable to TP closer than where you are. In fact it is really, really annoying when you want to cam around a large shop (for example) and then TP to where your camera view is to get closer to a vendor board, or the like. But when you are already in a sim, is it still necessary? I don’t think so. I can see the value of it, as it means people are forced to rez near a rules giver, or a prim notice, or a shop display, or the starting point on a tour, or whatever. Sim Owners have long been able to set a Landing Point to dictate where you land when entering their sim. Intra-sim teleports even when there is a Landing Pointīy this I mean teleports that take place within a sim, rather than when teleporting into a sim from another sim. I actually really like this as it is very compact and can be up all the time, unlike the Phoenix one which takes up too much screen space to be up all the time. The client-side radar / Avatar List is very compact and hung off the bottom of the Mini-Map. This is just so useful for those busy groups where people just can’t STFU in group chat but you still want to receive group notices. You can suppress Group Chat for individual groups. My friend Mariana actually ported this to Phoenix and submitted it as a patch and it was rejected as the person who rejected it didn’t see it as being useful, which was a shame as I think it is. When new IMs come in, the title bar of the ‘communicate’ menu updates to say how many are unread. When viewing your profile, groups that you have hidden from public view are shown greyed out, giving you an idea of how your profile will appear to others. It’s by no means an extensive or all-inclusive list. This is a roundup of what I consider to be genuinely useful features. As an aside, I think it’s pretty clear that the developers at Linden Lab who developed Viewer 2.x don’t, but that’s not the subject of this entry. What I like the most about Third Party Viewers such as Imprudence and Phoenix is that they are developed by people who actually use Second Life and so have features that, whilst they may not grab the headlines, are genuinely useful. The PUCT & ERCOT issued a conservation call & have, in contrast to Sunday night, acknowledged that some of the problems are caused by coal & gas plants: "The number of forced outages in thermal generation exceeds ERCOT forecasts." They showed >13GW of coal & gas offline. For example when there's a really hot day, but no wind, you won't be able to rely on your wind turbine to generate the energy that you need for your grid."ĮRCOT said Wednesday’s alert was partially due to an unexpected number of outages in thermal generation, which is coal and gas. "In other words, generation sources, particularly wind, you can’t access directly on demand. "The real issue that they are facing is that most of that capacity is non-dispatchable," explains Jones. It’s actually just as much a survival game as it is a platformer, and it does a great job of making you feel small and helpless in an imposing and frightening world. Probably the biggest difference between the two games is how Rain World handles difficulty. My bad.īut really, Rain World is more like Ori and The Will of the Wisps if instead of having beautiful and deadly weapons to dispose of any enemies that come your way, you have trash. I think the new Tetris was actually like that too. I mean, there are only so many games out there where you play as an adorable but weird white thing, exploring a harsh but weirdly hopeful world in a Metroidvania platformer. Rain World: Games like Ori and the Blind ForestĪt first glance, Rain World looks like it could actually be a pixelated port of Ori. Just like my dad used to do with his Looney Toons keychain.Īnd of course, we have the sequel to look forward to, so if there was ever a time to fall back in love with this game, I’d say it’s now. It’s the kind of experience where just when you think the game has run out of ways to impress you, it pulls something completely unexpected out of its pocket and beats you over the head with it. It’s a game that you can really tell had a lot of love put into it, and was clearly a passion project for Team Cherry. Its hand-drawn art style fits it’s bleak yet hopeful tone perfectly. It tells a very interesting story, using both it’s memorable characters and detailed environments. It has a gigantic array of bosses and enemies, each more unique than the last. It’s basically the pinnacle of beautiful, entertaining, and emotional Metroidvanias. Well anyway, you all know why Hollow Knight is on this list. … I probably shouldn’t phrase it like that. But know what, I saw it coming, that you saw this coming. Every list of games like Ori and the Blind Forest or Will of the Wisps also lists Hollow Knight. Just don’t blame me if you instantly fall in love with X’tabay. For my money, the original is still the one to go for though, and I’d pick up the Super Turbo Championship edition if you haven’t already. Not to mention, Guacamelee also got a kickass sequel that nearly completely recaptured the magic of the original, and raised the bar in a few ways too. It all gives the game this wonderful energy that seems to make everything twice as engaging. The Lucha’s, the folklore, the day of the dead. It’s like one massive celebration of Mexican culture. The wrestling type of fighting style not often seen in games like this actually works really well, and genuinely makes you feel like a macho wrestling champion, covered in enough baby oil to drown an actual baby. There are very few games out there that have made me laugh, and cry as much as Owlboy has. The writing is equal parts witty, endearing, thought-provoking, and genuinely very touching. The pixel art is stunningly beautiful, the animation is top-notch, the gameplay is inventive, satisfying, and you can throw your best friend into a wall as much as you like!īut really, It’s the story that always makes me want to come back to this game. It took D-Pad 9 years to make this game, and you can see every single second of work on display. This is a Metroidvania from 2016 that absolutely blew me away the first time I played it, which is actually appropriate for a game about flying. It’s wonderful, it’s heartwarming, and it’s one of the most underappreciated games of all time. So, I’m going to kick us off this list of games like Ori and the Blind FOrest with a personal favourite of mine. Screenshot of Owlboy, one of the most satisfying games like Ori and the Blind Forest This word could then be decrypted by anyone who knew the original encryption method of a +3 Caesar Cipher, who could reverse the cipher by translating all letters back three steps: F to C, L to I, and so on.īecause the Cipher is considered such a basic decrypter in modern times, it can be easy to break. The final encrypted word would read FLSKHU. For instance, if you were encrypting the word ‘CIPHER’ with a +3 shift, the letter C would become the letter F the letter I would become the letter L and so on for each letter. One of the oldest and simplest ciphers, the Caesar Cipher is a substitution cipher, which means each letter is shifted a certain number of places down the alphabet. Make sure you enter the alphabet in the correct order, or the cipher shift won’t be encoded properly. If you’re working with an alphabet other than the standard English alphabet, enter it in the ‘custom alphabet’ box. If you’re trying to decrypt a message and you don’t know what the shift is, you can check the ‘brute force’ box, which will show you all the possible decryptions of your message. For instance, a shift of -1 will change all A’s to Z’s, all Z’s to Y’s, etc. In contrast, a negative shift will move letters to the left. For instance, a shift of +1 will change all A’s to B’s, all B’s to C’s, and so on. A positive number corresponds to a right shift. In the appropriate box, choose how many steps you’d like to shift each letter. On the other hand, if you’d like to encode a message, enter the plaintext you’d like encrypted into the box on the right. If you’re trying to decode encrypted text, type the message into the box on the left. Type your text in the appropriate box.How to Use The Caesar Cipher Decoder Tool Whether you’re a long-time lover of cryptography looking to speed up the encryption process or just learning how to create coded messages, this tool can help you easily and efficiently encode and decode cipher text. Welcome to our Caesar Cipher Decoder tool! This tool can help you decode messages sent with a simple Caesar Cipher, or encode your messages to send to your friends. Eidos Montreal has done an incredible job of creating a visually diverse and fascinating universe, and oftentimes it feels like you’re staring at an animated page of the comics. Topping off the positives on story and gameplay is the visual style of GotG. Once you get the whole team and some abilities, Guardians of the Galaxy’s combat is an absolute blast. Just like with the story, there’s a real sense of camaraderie in battles, and the other Guardians do a surprisingly good job of holding their own. Add a few extra skills, and things really start to take off. Everything feels surprisingly fluid, especially once you get the whole group together. GotG’s combat feels like a mix between a third-person shooter and a brawler, but it works surprisingly well. Past that, though, your team can interact with different parts of the environment, like Drax picking up and throwing a boulder. Each Guardian has a gauge that builds up, and when full you can command them to execute a special attack. In combat, you control Star-Lord directly but can issue a variety of different commands to your team. The team dynamic applies to much more than the story, however, as it ties in directly to every gameplay system as well. For example, if you choose to go off the beaten path and look for treasure, Rocket might comment on how Star-Lord is always wasting time and getting distracted. Even more impressive is how reactive so much of it feels, with party members commenting on whatever you choose to have Star-Lord do. The party is constantly chatting as you explore various different worlds around the galaxy, and the amount of dialogue in the game is truly staggering. One particular scene between Star-Lord and Drax shows surprising vulnerability and emotion. You just don’t see that kind of vulnerability in games that often. One of the most poignant scenes in recent memory depicts Drax and Star-Lord opening up about their trauma. Drax is the other standout as he manages to be comedic, like his film counterpart, but also brings an incredible emotional depth. Star-Lord is the beating heart of the group, with a fascinating story that puts a unique spin on the overused father-daughter trope. The game’s strongest quality is its steadfast dedication to storytelling, with each member of the Guardians getting their own development arc across the wider narrative. The game is currently 40 percent off on the PlayStation Store, until February 10, 2022, and it’s the perfect time to jump in.Īlthough it’s based on the comics, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy takes place in a new universe featuring brand new versions of the characters, just like Avengers and Spider-Man. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy truly embraces the spirit of its source material and manages to create one of the most engaging, emotional experiences in years. Already, less than six months later, the game is now on a pretty big sale discount that’s hard to pass up. Amidst the fall rush of titles, one of the biggest surprises of the year might have been passed up by many players, especially going off the negative reception to Marvel’s Avengers. 2021 was a big year for gaming, from a wealth of stellar indies to massive AAA hits like Halo Infinite and Deathloop. The binary format itself has only had on breaking change, and that was back in mid-2017. There are many open-source projects that support additional languages as well. Those example projects are generic and work with all FIT files, not just Activity files. If you do not want to use C#, each SDK has an example project for decoding FIT files. This project also writes out a CSV file, so if you want to customize the CSV file for your own needs this would be a good place to start. The recipes are written in C# but the concepts apply to each SDK. If your goal is not to get the data in to a spreadsheet application, but rather write your own application to perform the analysis, there is a recipe in the Cookbook for decoding FIT Activity files. For example, if you want to get a relative time offset from the beginning of the activity, then subtracting epoch values is more efficient than subtracting date time objects. But that depends on how the data is being used. Each SDK provides a Date Time class that handles the conversion from the FIT Epoch to a language specific date time object, and in many cases the developer does not need to work directly with the FIT Epoch values. In the FIT SDK Cookbook there is a recipe for working with FIT Epoch values, which coincidentally is the date that Garmin was founded. If you are on OSX, there is documentation on how to create an Automator app for running the FIT CSV Tool and shows the use of the “-data” option. If you are using Windows, there is a bat file “FitToCSV-record.bat” that runs the FIT CSV Tool with the “–data record” option. The tool is meant for debugging, but in the tool’s documentation there is an example showing the use of the “-data” option that will output a file with just the record messages, which is probably what you are looking for. If your goal is to get the data from a FIT file in to a spreadsheet application, then using the FIT CSV Tool is a good place to start. Garmin needs to pivot immediately to leverage their community and start pushing updates that make these devices useful and secure. They're indicative of a deeply flawed engineering organization. So what gives? How are people dealing with this? Has Garmin not learned their lesson? Security by obscurity is not an option, and these problems are not just surface-level frustrations. There's no excuse for any of this, as these bluetooth messages have no real data limitation, and the difference between a normal unix epoch at a timestamp_16 is all of 32 bytes (tops). Something? I still can't tell what they are relative to. Many data streams don't even use the correct field names, structure is malformed, conventions not followed, timestamps are unix epochs shifted by 20 years, except for timestamp_16s which are relative to. The protocol data is inexplicably confusing. See other threads in this forum with people making comments to the effect of "oh I guess they changed it so I'm looking through previous versions of the SDK to do so-and-so."Ĥ. These files have evolved over time, without documentation or logs, making utilities created by individuals as recently as 2018 completely useless (see ). Converting these FIT files requires use of a poorly documented SDK and command line tool.ģ. What end user could have any conceivable use for this?Ģ. Even though Garmin Connect does the conversion, and shows me a graph, I can only download the original FIT binary data. I couldn't just download CSVs of individual data timeseries. Nothing fancy, just want some basic data so I can correlate metrics like heart rate with another data stream.Īs a software engineer, every step of this experience has been horrifying.ġ. I am trying to pull data from an Instinct Solar for a little side project. |
